Beginnings
The Porplemontage Radio System was thought up by Lucas Wagner, which was later developed and put on the web in a live, although slightly delayed, constant 24 hour play by Zachary Hinchliffe. It was a modest hit when it was first brought up on the forums, and continues to this day playing under 2 hours of different music in a constant mix, always randomizing the songs so it doesn't get repetitive.
Music Selection
The Station plays anything that is from a Porplemontage flash cartoon or submitted by Porplemontage users. The bulk of the music is from sountracks or personally made lists, and the music ranges from techno to absurdist humor to ska. Very brief intermissions are used to play ads, generally advertizing the station itself (the one that plays the most announces the station's name using a Macintosh voice generator, and other ads sporting the likes of Steven Shafer and Lucas Wagner have been put into the mix as well), although sometimes ads for series on Porplemontage plays, like a short Brooks TV one that aired on June 24th, 2006.
Station Development
Although not likely, there are plans to add other media besides music to the station, such as syndicated podcasts and audio versions of popular webtoon episodes. There was also talk of a live radio show to replace the podcasts, but with the recent podcast revival, it seems this will no longer by the case.
Complaints
While few, some complaints have still been brought up, generally about the lack of music variety and the small playlist. However, the station is still getting it's legs, and this is constantly being solved with listeners adding their own music over the day.
Downtime
Currently, the service is down due to the breaking down of the server computer. It will be back eventually, but it is unknown what time that may be.
